Creating AI Agents
Build, configure, test, and publish an AI Agent in the studio.
An AI Agent is a chat assistant that answers using your own knowledge bases and can act through attached tools. You create agents on the AI Agent page and configure them in the studio.
Create an agent
- Open AI Agent from the sidebar. Each agent appears as a card with its status badge (Draft or Published), who created it, and when it was last edited.
- Click Add AI Agent. The dialog has two steps:
- Info & Icon — enter the AI Agent Name (required), an optional AI Agent Description, and upload an AI Agent Icon (drag a file in or browse).
- Assign To — optionally pick a group under Assign to Group, so team members in that group can use the agent. See Users and Groups.
- Click Add. The new agent opens in the studio.
The studio
The studio (Setting AI Agent) is where you shape how the agent behaves. It has three areas:
Setting Prompt
Write the agent's instructions in the Setting Prompt editor: who it is, its tone, what it should and shouldn't do. If you prefer a head start, use Describe AI Agent — answer "What kind of AI Agent do you want to build?" in plain words and Veflow drafts a prompt for you. You can also open See Examples for reference prompts.
Configuration
The Configuration card gathers everything the agent is connected to. Each section has its own Add button that opens a dialog:
- Chat Template — set the First Chat Template, the greeting visitors see first (for example "Welcome to Veflow, Can I help you?"), and optional Question Suggestions shown as tappable starter questions. Type a suggestion and press enter to add it.
- Knowledge Base — click Add to open Knowledge References, then Select from Knowledge Base to attach existing folders or Upload New Knowledge Base to create one on the spot. Until you attach one you'll see "No knowledge base attached yet." Details in Knowledge Base.
- Tools — click Add to attach tools the agent may call (for example lead handling from installed plugins). Attached tools show an Enabled toggle. See Plugins.
Debug and Preview
The Debug and Preview panel is a live chat with your current draft. Ask it questions the way a customer would and adjust the prompt until answers feel right. You can send text and attach files or images in the test chat.
Saving and publishing
- Your work is saved continuously — the header shows "Automatically saved as draft" with a timestamp.
- When the agent is ready, click Publish and choose how to expose it:
- Embed it to the web — publish the agent as a chat widget for your website. See Web widget.
- Social Media Connector — connect messaging channels such as Telegram and WhatsApp.
- After publishing, the agent card shows Published, and the publish menu shows which method is active ("Published with Embed it to the web" or "Published with Social Media"). Use Manage Social Media Config to revisit channel settings.
Managing agents
From the agent card menu you can:
- Edit Info — rename the agent, change its description or icon.
- Assign AI Agent — share the agent with a group.
- Delete — permanently remove the agent. This also deletes its prompt configuration and logs, so the confirmation dialog asks you to confirm first.
Conversations with your published agents — across web, Telegram, and WhatsApp — are collected in the Conversation inbox.
